The power of prayer has been debated in the media often in the last few months. Some say prayers are valueless, but many, when faced with an untenable situation, turn to prayer for comfort and help. Merely repeating words of a prayer may not solve a life situation, but deep, heartfelt communion with God does lift us out of life’s challenges and puts us on a more steady path of good. People, communing and listening to God, have experienced healing both physically, mentally, and situationally.
How does one pray effectively? Can anyone with a desire to know God learn to heal? Yes! Come hear inspired talks by individuals who have changed their own lives and the lives of others by turning to God.
One speaker, Patty Woodard, writes, “The little bird in my hand was free to fly away. We’d banded him as part of an Audubon Society effort and the time had come for his release. But even when I opened my hand to let him go, he didn’t budge. What did he need? He just needed a little lift. When I gave him even the tiniest nudge upward, off he flew. Free!
What is it that gives this kind of lift to our lives? Good news, for one thing. And what better news than the promise that health and freedom can be ours today. Yes, today! A view of God and the universe uplifts our thoughts, changes our perspective to a spiritual viewpoint, and heals.
And it lifts all of us, and can heal all of us. I’ll share the way Christian Science has brought healing to my own life, rescuing me from a troubling situation with my teenage daughter, and freeing me from the effects of an accident, as well as examples of how it has helped others from different walks of life. The common thread through these experiences is the way a clearer view of the reality of our God-given wholeness also releases us from burdens in our lives and causes us to soar. Free!”
Are you wrestling with the stress of time? Is your daily life a series of dashes from one activity to another? Do you feel unsettled? Another speaker, Dave Hohle, shares his insights on how to live a life of spiritual unfoldment. He says, “This talk explores how we can begin to gain spiritual freedom from limitation associated with time and age. Time is a constant in physics, but totally disappears in metaphysics. Time measures matter, but divine Mind or spiritual consciousness is immeasurable and infinite. This talk distinguishes between time and timelessness, age and agelessness, and encourages freedom from mortal limitations associated with time by understanding more about the spiritual nature of life. This understanding leads to more freedom, more productivity, and more harmony.
Time is not a factor in your life, is not about how to get the most out of a 24-hour day, but is how to gain dominion by living in the timeless, stressless spiritual now. We’ll look at what we mean by eternity. Is it a never-ending series of nows? What is immediacy? The Bible says, “now is the accepted time; now is the day of salvation.” Could salvation mean, in part, freedom from the mortal tyranny of time?
The talk points out the advantages of identifying ourselves truly as God’s spiritual idea right now – continuous, ageless, useful, and as indestructible as He is – rather than as limited, aging mortals.
Finally, the listener is encouraged to allow their thoughts or moments to be God-moments – God-inspired and God-motivated. In this way the listener will be able to begin demonstrating that truly, time is not a factor.”
